CM Punk kicked off his legendary 434-day WWE title run as a babyface but had turned heel halfway through. In late 2012, Punk was still the WWE Champion but had become one of the most hated heels on the roster. On an episode of WWE RAW, Punk was fleeing the spot through the crowd and was surrounded by fans on all sides. This was certainly not an ideal situation, especially with every fan surrounding Punk wanting to get in the frame with him.
A fan hit Punk and later admitted to the same. The WWE Champion wasn't happy at all and decided to give it back to the fan in a fit of anger. Unfortunately, Punk punched the wrong fan, while the one who hit him stood aside, unscathed. The unscripted incident made waves for days on end, with the innocent fan contacting the police and stating that he later developed knee pain. Punk wasn't someone who liked to take abuse from anyone and always made it a point to give it back with full force. His outburst was quite understandable on this occasion, but he ended up hitting the wrong guy in the heat of the moment.

Given the opportunity to script WWE’s next big storyline, Abhilash would treat fans to the second installment of The Bloodline Civil War. He would book Roman Reigns to re-form The Bloodline with The Usos and Sami Zayn upon his comeback. The angle would see The Tribal Chief-led group go head-to-head with The Rock, Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Jacob Fatu in a blockbuster family feud.
