Bray Wyatt finally became WWE Champion at Elimination Chamber this year, and it seemed like his long overdue push was finally going to commence at long last. Instead, he dropped the WWE Championship to Randy Orton at WrestleMania 33.

Instead, the match was made a non-title clash for some inexplicable reason. Wyatt won the match but did not regain the championship at Payback.
Orton carried the championship to SmackDown Live and lost his title to Jinder Mahal at Backlash. That's another story for another day.
