#1 Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg (WWE WrestleMania 20)

Brock Lesnar and Goldberg were involved in one of the most hostile WWE matches of all time at WWE WrestleMania 20.

In the two years prior to the March 2004 event, Lesnar had been built up as WWE’s next top Superstar of the future. His “Next Big Thing” nickname was not just something that was created for marketing purposes – he really was the fastest-rising Superstar in the company.

Goldberg, meanwhile, joined WWE one year earlier after previously cementing his status as one of the most dominant performers in the wrestling business in WCW.

Lesnar vs. Goldberg (refereed by Stone Cold Steve Austin) should have been a dream match at WWE’s biggest show of the year, but that was definitely not the case for the fans in attendance at Madison Square Garden.

WWE’s fans knew that both Superstars’ contracts were set to expire after the event, so they decided to hijack the match with chants of “Boring!”, “You sold out!”, “This match s*cks!”, and various other derogatory chants.

Both men ended up returning to WWE later in their careers (Lesnar in 2012 and Goldberg in 2016) and they even renewed their rivalry at WWE Survivor Series 2016 and WWE WrestleMania 33.
