Cricket is by far the most followed sport in the Indian subcontinent. Even globally, cricket is the second most followed sport after football. However, the reach of this sport is limited, as Cricket is not as popular in the western countries as it is in the subcontinent.

Hence, to expect WWE Superstars, most of whom are from the Americas, is a bit unrealistic. However, it is surprising to know that many WWE Superstars have actually tried their hands at a game which is completely new to them.

Here are five instances when WWE Superstars dabbled in cricket.

#5 Alberto Del Rio

Alberto Del Rio, who is a 4-time World Champion in WWE, tried his luck with the bat and ball when he visited India in 2016. Alberto Del Rio visited Bengaluru as a part of his special 3-day visit to India. Before reaching Bengaluru, Del Rio visited Kolkata to meet his fans and played a friendly game of football with the East Bengal FC.

In Bengaluru, the Mexican Aristocrat met with the Special Olympics Bharat team and played a friendly game of cricket with the kids.

While Del Rio did admit that the game was a little difficult to understand as he knew nothing about it, he thoroughly enjoyed playing with the kids.

#4 Ryback

Ryback, along with Wade Barrett visited the ICC Cricket Academy in Abu Dhabi in 2015. While Barrett, who comes from Lancashire, England was not new to the game, The Big Guy certainly was.

It took some valuable lessons by the kids at the Academy for the former Intercontinental Champion to learn the basics of the game. Since he was fairly new to the sport, Ryback didn't face any of the lethal bowlers but was simply asked to hit the balls lying on the ground into a small net. Ryback actually did pretty well in his first attempt at the game.

#3 Charlotte and Dolph Ziggler

The current SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte and former World Heavyweight Champion Dolph Ziggler had none other the legendary Virender Sehwag teaching them the game. The explosive Indian opener delightfully explained the basics of cricket, from batting and bowling to catching, to the duo.

Sehwag was accompanied by his two sons, Aryavir and Vedant. Dolph Ziggler tried a right arm off-spin against Sehwag, who out of respect for his new pupil, played a defensive shot. Ziggler did not miss out on the opportunity to thank the former Indian Captain and had this to say:

"That was an awesome experience, and we're grateful to Virender for giving us our first taste of playing cricket".

#2 The Miz and Dolph Ziggler

Dolph Ziggler had the chance to play this game with another special cricketer, Ben Stokes. However, this time it was 'the most must-see WWE Superstar' The Miz, who accompanied The Showoff.

The duo, along with Ben Stokes, visited Ravenswood Primary School in Newcastle.The trio spent time with the kids and played a friendly game with them. The Miz, after getting some valuable tips from the kids, also had a go at bowling. While Ziggler was happy to be on the sidelines, Miz went one step ahead and faced the lethal bowling of Ben Stokes.

A list like this is incomplete without the inclusion of the Leader of Cenation, John Cena himself. On his visit to Australia to promote his film Ferdinand, Cena visited the former Aussie cricketer Shane Watson at the Sydney Thunder ground.

'Watto' and Chris Green tried their best to teach Cena the basics of the game. Cena, however, ended up holding the bat in a baseball stance! While Cena missed his first shot, he did manage to strike a few later on. The Franchise player expressed his gratitude towards the Sydney Thunder team.
