#1 Randy Orton's remarks about the late Eddie Guerrero

The death of Eddie Guerrero on 13 November 2005 took the WWE Universe by storm. Eddie was one of the greatest performers in the company's history and was extremely loved by fans all around the globe. Yet, this didn't prevent his demise from being exploited in a WWE storyline.

One of Eddie Guerrero's closest friends in the industry, Rey Mysterio, was the recipient of a main event push in 2006. Despite being the second entrant in the Royal Rumble match that year, Mysterio won the contest and thereby received a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship.

The Master of the 619 had dedicated his run to the late Eddie Guerrero. It was then that Randy Orton got involved. Orton was the last person whom Mysterio had eliminated to win the Royal Rumble match and wanted the latter to put his title shot on the line.

Orton was in the middle of his Legend Killer gimmick at the time in WWE but during one of the episodes of SmackDown, he crossed all the lines when he spoke distastefully about Eddie Guerrero stating:

"Eddie ain't in heaven, Eddie's down there, in hell!"

Fans of the product were very critical of this angle. Fellow WWE Superstars who had worked with Eddie Guerrero prior to his death couldn't have been happy about it either.
