At Battleground 2017, AJ Styles and Kevin Owens continued their war for the United States Championship.

Styles had shockingly captured the title at a live event in Madison Square Garden, and it seemed to be to the start of a lengthy reign for the Phenomenal One.

But at the pay per view, Owens re-captured the title, shocking everyone including both Superstars.

The odd roll-up by the Prizefighter really put a damper on the match, and fans speculated whether this was intentional.

Speculation was increased as this reign ended just days later on SmackDown Live, when Styles regained the gold, as the company tried to undo the botch that had left everyone talking.

Though the match was a classic bout between two of SmackDown's top stars, this ending left everyone scratching their heads.
