The life of a wrestler isn't as hunky dory and fun as it seems. Sure, you get to do what you love and travel the world, but the constant working out and crazy travel schedule does take its toll.
Wrestlers have to constantly channel their aggression and ability in the squared circle and while they do fight and battle one another, sometimes that clouds their judgement.
While they might miss a pop or botch up a move in the ring, they also make a ton of mistakes outside the ring too. The fact that they are big names and have a number of followers also puts extra pressure on them to stay clean and out of trouble but things don't always go the way they would want.
There have been a number of episodes where wrestlers have been escorted and arrested while doing a show but sometimes things do go a little too far and a number of such stars end up getting arrested for a range of other charges too, racking up a criminal record too.
Here are five TNA superstars that have criminal records but still continue to wrestle.
#5 Matt Sydal
Sydal might be better known during his WWE days but the master of the Shooting star press was arrested in September 2016 while as he tried to defend his title at Destruction in Kobe for NJPW.
The 34-year-old was arrested for carrying a few grams of marijuana in his vaporiser at Kansai Airport in Osaka. Sydal was convicted and was released on probation which means he is banned from entering Japan for three years, which is a bit of a let-off considering how strict Japan is regarding narcotics.
Sydal did speak about the entire issue and added that he was not sent to jail, however, things are a little murky about just how the authorities found out about Sydal's marijuana possession as this was not his first time in Japan.
There are reports that suggest someone tipped off the authorities in the Asian country and that is how Sydal was caught. Hopefully, he has learned his lesson and will only reach the highest spots in the ring.
The TNA star seems to be enjoying his time now in the ring and seems set to continue his high flying ability as he wows the Impact Zone.
#4 Moose
Moose isn't just a wrestler, he is also a bit of a beast thanks to his NFL experience, and it seems those big hits have had an effect on him even after ending his pro football career.
His real name is Quinn Ojinnaka, and in 2009, Moose was arrested for what is described as a simple battery at his home in Suwanee, Georgia.
Moose actually had a bit of a fight with his then-wife; a report claims that the wrestler was questioned by his wife over his contact with a female Facebook friend.
Things got a little out of hand and Moose threw – yes, you read that right – threw her out of the house after tossing her down the stairs.
Needless to say, there were a number of repercussions after his arrest. Moose was suspended from the NFL season opener for the Atlanta Falcons and that charge even scuppered his chance of making it to the WWE as they were worried about the backlash from the public should they have signed the wrestler.
#3 Bram
It seems that TNA has an issue of attracting wrestlers that beat up their partners. Bram certainly married into wrestling heritage as he was the son-in-law of the Nature Boy.
Bram was married to Charlotte Flair but this incident didn't happen to the WWE star, rather it was to another woman named Ashley Allen. The English wrestler was accused of strangulation and false imprisonment and was held in Pinellas County Jail in 2015.
The police report elaborated on the details which stated that Thomas Latimer (Bram) had been in a physical altercation with Allen and refused to allow her to leave a room.
Bram also reportedly pushed her onto the bed and held her by the neck. TNA did take some measures as they suspended him and Bram had to post a $5,000 bond which got him released from jail on 1 September 2015.
#2 Konnan
Konnan does have a long and celebrated career behind him and even if he isn't doing a lot of wrestling in the ring, the 53-year-old can still knock the daylights of anyone that gets on the wrong side.
With a bit of a tough upbringing, it isn't a surprise that Konnan has a pretty long history of being on the wrong side of the law. K-Dawg got into trouble when he was in his teens and was charged as a juvenile with motorcycle theft and credit card theft.
That was not all for Konnan and the law as he was also picked up by the fuzz during an NFL game between the San Diego Chargers and the Oakland Raiders. He was, eventually, released post the altercation with the police, and even Rey Mysterio was present when the entire episode took place.
#1 Alberto El Patron
The current World Heavyweight Champion, El Patron does have a history of altercations, whether it be during his time in the WWE or on the indie circuit. The Mexican has the talent to be one of the best in the world but even royalty cannot escape the long-arm of the law.
One of his earlier run ins with the police came in Austria in January 2017 when he was arrested for a bit of a fight in a bar. A report claimed that El Patron and his brother also got into a fight at a police station, while an Austrian man needed medical attention in a hospital.
The Mexican pair were let go but that was not the end of the problems for El Patron.
In July, he was suspended by GFW regarding domestic violence against Paige, an incident which took place at the Orlando International Airport, and the cops had to be called, once again.
Certainly, not the best time for El Patron when he signed up for Impact Wrestling, it seems.
