Rusev met Lana while both were in NXT, way before the duo made its way to the main roster in 2014. Rusev and Lana were paired on TV, with the latter acting as The Bulgarian Brute's manager. Lana made her Total Divas debut in 2016, on the sixth season of the show. The couple went on to get hitched on Total Divas itself. The weeks leading up to the wedding saw Rusev asking Lana's dad for his blessing.

The couple finally got married on a beach in Malibu, and months later in Bulgaria. Both weddings were extensively featured on Total Divas. Rusev and Lana could be seen talking about having kids on an episode of Total Divas, in late 2017. Around the same time, Lana told Rusev that her priority is her career, and not starting a family with him. This led to a heated discussion between them in which Rusev told her that he's disappointed in her. Rusev and Lana are still happily married. Going by the moniker of Miro, Rusev currently works in AEW, while Lana is a mainstay on WWE RAW currently.

He would book Roman Reigns to re-form The Bloodline with The Usos and Sami Zayn upon his comeback.
