5 twists that could happen in Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar for the Universal title at WrestleMania 34

Will the Beast Incarnate be conquered on his way out?
Will the Beast Incarnate be conquered on his way out?

Whether you like it or not, Roman Reigns' coronation is right around the corner. Booing, cheering or downright hurling abuses at the Big Dog won't change Vince McMahon's train of thought.

Roman Reigns will be your new Universal Champion come April 8th but it most certainly won't happen without a remarkable swerve or two.

WrestleMania is all about the big moments and a marquee title match of this magnitude ought to have a few noteworthy twists in order to leave a lasting memory in the social media age.

Heel turns, returns, new alliances, and possible exits -- this list has it all!

#5 Roman Reigns becomes the new Paul Heyman Guy

Because why not...
Because why not...

Brock Lesnar likes to keep it real in the Octagon rather than orchestrate a fight inside the squared circle.

It's no secret that the Beast Incarnate is looking to leave WWE for the UFC after his current deal expires at WrestleMania, leaving Paul Heyman with the job of scouting a potential replacement for his client.

While Asuka does rest a strong case, Roman Reigns is surely the man for the job. Heyman turning on his esteemed client in New Orleans throws open a wide range of angles to work with post Mania.

Heyman could finally brag about having a client who shows up to work every week, which also leaves the door open for a fresh storyline for Lesnar if he wishes to stay or make a comeback to WWE sometime down the line.

Reigns has been holding his own on the microphone in recent weeks but it can't get better than having the best in the game doing the dirty work for you.

The Big Dog and the Almighty Walrus working together is money!

#4 Brock Lesnar retains

It could be similar scene yet again.
It could be similar scene yet again.

But then the jacked up white boy could choose the big bucks over the grind of MMA to stick around for some more time with the belt strapped around his waist!

Backstage plans and negotiations are as fickle as the weather and in the wake of steroid allegations levelled against Roman Reigns, WWE could be forced to go back to the drawing board. However, there's an added incentive.

Lesnar is already 350+ days as champion. It isn't rocket science to figure out the psyche of the top brass in this situation. WWE has the opportunity to erase CM Punk off its history by having the Beast Incarnate go on to become the longest reigning world champion in the modern era.

It also throws up the possibility of Braun Strowman eventually being the man to dethrone Lesnar as the new champion of the Universe. Picture the Monster Among Men walking around with three outrageously red championship belts every week on Raw!

#3 Bobby Lashley shows up

$$$!
$$$!

TNA's Brock Lesnar vs. the real deal needs to happen in this lifetime! Donald Trump's representative in the 'Battle of Billionaires' has been all but confirmed to return to WWE after nearly ten years and it comes as no surprise that Lesnar is his rumored opponent.

Additionally, the timing of it all couldn't have been any better. The 4-time TNA World Champion could be reintroduced to the WWE Universe at the grandest stage of them all where he either confronts Lesnar after the match or costs him the title in some way.

WWE could even save the face-off for the Raw after WrestleMania. Just when Lesnar is about to leave WWE for a real fight, Lashley brings about the possibility of a realistic fight between the two pro wrestlers-turned-mixed martial artists in a WWE ring.

The obvious catch is Lesnar has to extend his contract for the dream feud to happen. We're sure no one would want to miss out on an opportunity of making truckloads of money off of this rivalry.

#2 The Balor Club announce their arrival

WrestleMania 34 could be too sweet!
WrestleMania 34 could be too sweet!

Finn Balor has still not received a mandatory Universal title rematch. For the record, the Elimination Chamber match doesn't count.

While The Demon King could win the Intercontinental title for the first time at Mania, the recent build-up of Rollins as a valiant performer forces us to think otherwise. The Architect goes into the Triple Threat match at WrestleMania 34 as the favorite to dethrone Miz. The Miz could even retain the title for all we know.

This leaves Balor directionless, and while Balor may be quite familiar with the predicament, he deserves so much better. It's high time WWE lets the Balor Club run wild on Raw and it could all be reignited by making a strong statement at WrestleMania.

Along with Karl Anderson Luke Gallows, Balor could spearhead on the attack on whoever the Universal champion is by the end of the night. The former NJPW stars could even interfere and influence the outcome of the match if the WWE creative wishes to go down that path.

It works on paper as Finn Balor would be a great opponent to kickstart Roman Reigns' first Universal title after WrestleMania.

#1 Roman Reigns squashes Brock Lesnar!

Goldberg 2.0?
Goldberg 2.0?

Could Roman Reigns pull off a Goldberg and destroy the former UFC Heavyweight Champion? Both have the spear that seems to be Lesnar's Achilles heels too.

Being the underdog going into the match, it would be quite a shocker to have Reigns give Lesnar a taste of his own medicine.

It's a highly unlikely booking decision that is also one of the most intriguing ones of the lot. As Reigns vs. Lesnar is reportedly not going to be the main event, an unexpected outcome in the middle of the show would raise the mainstream stock of the grandest PPV of them all.

It also increases the ambiguity surrounding a fragile Lesnar's future while also making Reigns look like an absolute monster. To make it the squash look believable, WWE could bring Lesnar's long history with Diverticulitis into the picture.

The Beast Incarnate could then 'defy the odds' a few months later and return to the Octagon and everything goes as planned in the contrasting yet promotional-wise similar worlds of WWE and UFC.
