Austin and Dude Love were a very unlikely tag team
On 26th May, 1997, Stone Cold Steve Austin formed an alliance with the returning Shawn Michaels in their feud against The Hart Foundation, given that the two men had a common enemy in The Harts.

Both Austin and Michaels eventually won the WWF Tag Team Championship from Owen Hart and The British Bulldog who were representing The Hart Foundation. This also marked Austin's first title win in the WWF, however, it wouldn't last too long, as HBK had to vacate the title due to an injury. Later in the same night though, a tournament was held in order to determine which team would face Austin and a partner of his choosing for the vacant championships. Austin's refusal to pick a partner, led to Hart and Bulldog winning the tournament as The Texas Rattlesnake decided to wrestle the match by himself.

But, later in the contest, Austin eventually received a helping hand from the ever-charismatic Dude Love, who came out to assist Austin, who accepted his invitation. Austin and Love would make history as they would go on to win the tag titles on their very first night, making Austin a two-time champion, as well.
With Dude Love being more of a comedy character and Austin being more of the badass in WWE, this was surely a very odd pairing, however, it sure did work out to an extent.
