By the time of the 2019 Royal Rumble, Becky Lynch was becoming one of the biggest characters in WWE. Earlier at the event, Becky Lynch lost to Asuka in a rematch for the SmackDown Woman's Championship, after dropping the title to The Empress Of Tomorrow a month prior at Tables, Ladders, and Chairs.
The second-ever women's Royal Rumble took place shortly after Becky Lynch vs Asuka. Towards the end of the match, Lana was set to enter at number 28, but struggled to make it to the ring after she was injured. As the Ravishing Russian was deemed as unfit to compete, Becky Lynch stormed her way in and demanded to be put in the match as a replacement and it was granted by Finlay.
After being allowed in the Royal Rumble, Becky Lynch quickly tore through her opponents and battled her way to the very end. The remaining two stars were herself and Charlotte Flair, who she eliminated to win.
After winning the Royal Rumble, Becky Lynch selected to challenge Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania for the RAW Women's Championship, reigniting their feud.
