It honestly feels like The Undertaker's retirement was a mistake.

WWE and The Undertaker might have made a mistake.

Not only is that evident by the way the retirement announcement was revealed to the WWE Universe, but also by how easily it would have been to keep Undertaker alive in the cinematic universe they had created. As if that wasn't disappointing enough, his retirement also closed the door on a plethora of potential dream matches for WWE.

Now, it's not like The Undertaker doesn't deserve to retire after 30 years in the business, but the execution could have been done so much better. What was most disappointing was how the announcement was mentioned in passing as a part of The Last Ride documentary on the WWE Network and not inside the squared circle.

If nothing else, the company should have at least brought Undertaker out the night after WrestleMania 36 and let him announce his retirement live. At least that way, the moment would have resulted in a much more cathartic send off.
