Maybe Drew McIntyre isn't the long term champion that WWE is looking for?

Drew McIntyre fulfilled his destiny in 2020 when he won the Royal Rumble and went on to defeat Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 36, but he just hasn't done much with it. While the company has tried everything they could to make McIntyre's run interesting, it seems to keep falling short of the goal.

Of course, a lot of that has to do with McIntyre not really being that fleshed out of a character, but also due to the people he has faced so far. Big Show, Seth Rollins and Bobby Lashley didn't really do much to help establish him as the next big thing in WWE.

In the end, McIntyre may be a transitional champion at best and not someone WWE should be devoting large amounts of time to. Now, that doesn't mean he isn't doing well in the spot for now, but one can probably expect him to lose the title quickly after things get back to normal.
