After a pretty successful stint in WWE NXT, McIntyre was moved up to the main roster. The April 16, 2018 edition of Monday Night RAW saw McIntyre making his RAW return and aligning with Dolph Ziggler, thus turning heel.

McIntyre teamed up with Ziggler to defeat Titus Worldwide on next week's show. The alliance lasted for a few months, and did its job of cementing McIntyre as a powerhouse and no-nonsense heel.
Soon after his loss to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 35, McIntyre took on the role of Shane McMahon's henchman. The Scottish Psychopath went on to aid McMahon in his feud against Roman Reigns. McMahon was furious at Reigns attacking his dad Vince McMahon upon moving to SmackDown Live.
McIntyre, who should have positioned somewhere in the main event by this time, was instead put into a spot that didn't do much for him. He had already played the same role a year ago, while being with Dolph Ziggler. The duo lost a tag team match to The Undertaker and Reigns at Extreme Rules 2019.

He would book Roman Reigns to re-form The Bloodline with The Usos and Sami Zayn upon his comeback. The angle would see The Tribal Chief-led group go head-to-head with The Rock, Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Jacob Fatu in a blockbuster family feud.
