Seth Rollins kicked off tonight's edition of WWE RAW in St. Paul, Minnesota. The former champion will be serving as the special guest referee in the singles match between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre this Saturday night at SummerSlam.
The Visionary informed CM Punk and Drew McIntyre of the rules and regulations for their match at the premium live event this weekend. He claimed that the only rule is that they do what he says during the highly anticipated match.
Listed below are five ways Seth Rollins can sabotage the match between McIntyre and Punk at WWE SummerSlam.
#5. Seth Rollins could cost CM Punk the match at WWE SummerSlam
Seth Rollins has made his hatred for CM Punk known to anyone who will listen. He claimed the 45-year-old was a cancer and didn't want the veteran to sign with WWE.
The former AEW Champion got involved in Rollins' match at Money in the Bank and stopped Drew McIntyre from cashing in. However, Punk's interference also distracted The Visionary, allowing Damian Priest to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.
Rollins may let his dislike for Punk get in the way of calling the action down the middle at SummerSlam. This would provide Drew McIntyre with an unfair advantage in the bout and lead to more issues between Punk and Rollins on RAW.
#4. Seth Rollins could turn a blind eye at WWE SummerSlam
CM Punk and Drew McIntyre's rivalry has been going on for months and has gotten extremely personal. The Scottish Warrior has stolen a bracelet with Punk's wife (AJ Lee) and his dog's (Larry) name on it. He showed it to Punk at the end of tonight's promo as a way to get under his skin ahead of their match at SummerSlam.
During tonight's edition of WWE RAW, Rollins informed McIntyre that he despises him as well. Instead of being an impartial official at the premium live event, Rollins could let everything go, which could lead to an incredibly violent match.
#3. The Visionary could react poorly to inadvertent contact
WWE referees have a risky job, and sometimes, they get caught up in the action. Either CM Punk or Drew McIntyre could accidentally strike Seth Rollins during the match at SummerSlam, which could lead to the bout getting derailed.
Adam Pearce made Rollins the special guest referee after Drew McIntyre put his hands on WWE officials at Money in the Bank. However, The Scottish Warrior has made it clear that he has issues with both Punk and Rollins. Adam Pearce's plan could potentially backfire if Seth Rollins loses his temper if he is accidentally hit during the match at the premium live event.
#2. Seth Rollins may play mind games with CM Punk by helping him
CM Punk got in Seth Rollins' face during the opening segment of WWE RAW and told the veteran that he did not want his help this weekend. The former World Heavyweight Champion could potentially catch Drew McIntyre trying to cheat at SummerSlam and prevent him from doing so.
However, CM Punk may view that as Rollins trying to assist him, which could lead to a confrontation during the match. Drew McIntyre would then likely capitalize on the distraction, which may lead to a controversial finish this Saturday night.
#1. Seth Rollins could do a fast count at WWE SummerSlam
Wrestling fans have been waiting for CM Punk and Drew McIntyre to square off for months. Punk tore his triceps during the Men's Royal Rumble match in January and has finally been cleared to return. While the anticipation for the match at SummerSlam is off the charts, Rollins could be planning something devious to anger the fans this weekend.
The RAW star may have no intentions of trying to do his job as guest referee. Instead, he could be planning on doing a fast count the first chance he gets to hand either Punk or McIntyre a cheap victory. This would lead to either Punk or McIntyre having an intense rivalry with Rollins following the PLE, and would also call into question RAW General Manager Adam Pearce's decision to make the inaugural NXT Champion the special guest referee at The Biggest Party of the Summer.
