Ambrose' return has certainly been on everybody's mind
Ambrose' return has certainly been on everybody's mind

Dean Ambrose was on top of the world last year as a member of The Shield. Sadly, the reunion was ill-fated and he suffered an injury during his run. The WWE Universe has wanted him to return to the fold for a while now. The question is- how will his return be booked?

In this article we shall present 5 hypothetical scenarios. We do hope you will chime in with your comments in the section below. How would you book his big return?

We can all agree that The Lunatic is one of the most beloved characters in all of wrestling. It will be necessary to bring him back with a really loud bang.

Let's hope the company books his return just right!

#5 As part of the Greatest Royal Rumble pay-per-view

Could Ambrose be a surprise entrant in the Rumble?
Could Ambrose be a surprise entrant in the Rumble?

50 men will compete at the Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia. This includes big names like Daniel Bryan, Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho and more. As stacked as the current roster is, booking a 50 man match is no mean feat. Ambrose could be brought back to compete in the Greatest Royal Rumble match.

Of course, he may not necessarily win the Greatest Royal Rumble. However, his next feud could emerge from the men he is thrown in with. A very interesting storyline could be born based upon whom he eliminates and who eliminates him.

There's always a slim possibility that he may go on to win the whole thing, and we're certain that the WWE Universe would not mind if he did. Ambrose has proved his worth to the company time and again, and this could be his big moment.

#4 Helping Samoa Joe defeat Roman Reigns at Backlash

The Reigns-Ambrose feud may be one to watch out for
The Reigns-Ambrose feud may be one to watch out for

Roman Reigns has a chance to compete for the Universal Championship at the Greatest Royal Rumble pay-per-view. And this comes shortly after he lost a match against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 34. Mind you, Finn Balor and Kevin Owens haven't received title shots since they lost the Universal Championship.

Could the favouritism shown by WWE management be the straw that breaks the camel's back for Dean Ambrose (in storyline of course)? It is a well documented fact that Ambrose works more dates than any other performer in the roster. This could be the reason he shows up at Backlash and prevents Reigns from defeating Samoa Joe.

This could lead to a long drawn out feud between Reigns and Ambrose. Yes, they have faced one another in the past, but they've never really had a full-fledged emotional program thus far. We know it was Joe that attacked him, but this swerve could make things very interesting.

#3 As part of The Shield

The Shield is the hottest act in wrestling
The Shield is still the hottest act in wrestling

Let's face it! WWE is adamant on getting Roman Reigns over as a babyface and the only time this ever happens is when Reigns is a part of The Shield. The Hounds of Justice were on the verge of a tremendous babyface run until Ambrose's injury ruined WWE's big plans. The company may want to pick up where they left off.

With the recent NXT call-ups and the Superstar Shake-Up, The Shield could have new opponents to feud with. The alliance of Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre seems like it could be headed for a showdown of this nature, down the line.

#2 The new leader of SAnitY?

Ambrose could fit right in with this crazy bunch
Ambrose could fit right in with this crazy bunch of WWE superstars

Eric Young is a big name in wrestling. However, there exists a huge portion of the audience that may be unaware of who he is. WWE may want to associate SAnitY with a big name to get them off to the right start. A superstar who could join their ranks could well be the Lunatic Fringe himself.

This would effectively mean that Ambrose would become a SmackDown Live superstar, going forward. SmackDown Live could benefit from Ambrose' star power. SAnitY falls in the grey area between heel and babyface, and this could be an interesting change of character for the ultimate babyface, Ambrose.

RAW is a pretty stacked show anyway. We are afraid that if Ambrose returns on RAW, he may get lost in the mix.

#1 Feud with Rollins over the Intercontinental Championship

Babyface Rollins vs. heel Ambrose would be a fresh feud to watch
Babyface Rollins vs. heel Ambrose would be a new, fresh feud to get into

When Dean Ambrose was injured,Seth Rollins wasted no time in finding another tag team partner. He even won the Tag Team Championship with Jason Jordan. Ambrose may not have liked that (in storyline). And this could be the impetus for him to turn heel upon his big return.

Rollins and Ambrose could certainly tear it up. We know that the two men have incredible chemistry. We know that the Intercontinental Championship could be elevated through this feud.
