After Roman Reigns failed to capture the Universal Title at WrestleMania 34, WWE announced that Brock Lesnar had signed another contract with the company. With that announcement, a match between Reigns and Lesnar was booked at the Greatest Royal Rumble with Reigns losing that match too.

Lashley and Lesnar should have had a confrontation with Lashley interrupting a Paul Heyman and Lesnar segment saying that he wants a shot at Lesnar's Title. Heyman being the mic worker he is, could have written Lashley off by saying that he hasn't proved much in the WWE and that title shots aren't handed down in the company but one needs to earn them.

After that segment, Lashley could have been booked as the dominating wrestler he is, culminating in a match against The Beast at Summerslam to dethrone Lesnar and capture the Universal Title and stake his claim in WWE.
