The idea with WWE is always to have Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar as the face of the product. While Reigns is already a SmackDown Superstar (even though Brand Split perhaps doesn’t exist anymore), Brock Lesnar has been advertised as a SmackDown Superstar after the show goes to the FOX Network in October.

Since both Reigns and Lesnar are the two favourites of the company, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Joe have the title as a transitional champion before one of the aforementioned two take the throne.

This could especially happen if the company wants Reigns back in the title picture. If he wins it from babyface Kingston, WWE risk the fans booing him again. As a result, heel Joe could be the short-term champion to ease in Reigns (it must, however, be added that the company still risk Reigns being booed as Joe is one of the fan-favourites).
