There is never a WrestleMania without John Cena, right?

'John Cena', a name synonymous with WWE for over fifteen years now, has always made it to the Grandest Stage of Them All!

John Cena has not appeared continuously in WWE for over a year now, with his last run being during WrestleMania season in 2018. He clamored endlessly for a match against the Undertaker and finally received the same at WrestleMania.

John Cena made a brief return to WWE during New Year's and announced himself for the Royal Rumble match. However, he was taken out of the match and replaced by the Monster Among Men, Braun Strowman!

Cena has promised that he will make it to WrestleMania 35, and the fans will be excited to see the sixteen-time world champ in action at the Biggest Show of the Year.

Who could he face at WrestleMania 35? We take a look at five possible opponents for the Face that Runs the Place!

#5 Lars Sullivan

When will The Freak return?
When will The Freak return?

It was rumored that Lars would debut around WWE Royal Rumble season and attack John Cena, setting up a feud leading to WrestleMania. Lars Sullivan made a name for himself in WWE NXT, competing in a five star classic at WWE NXT Takeover: New Orleans.

Lars Sullivan is everything Vince McMahon looks for in an individual, and a monster push for him would not be surprising.

Lars Sullivan facing John Cena in his first WrestleMania match-up will bode well for the superstar and help him create a big name for himself in WWE.

John Cena is a franchise player, and a win over him guarantees a major push in WWE. Cena has put over several talents in recent times, including AJ Styles, Kevin Owens, and Elias.

#4 Ethan Carter III

EC3 was to TNA what John Cena was for WWE. EC3 was a star in that promotion and made a name for himself cutting excellent promos. Similarly to Cena, EC3 did not have out-of-the-world wrestling skills but still rose to the top of the mountain.

EC3 and John Cena need to feud simply for the sake of some excellent promos which will take place. EC3 is currently being presented as a superstar who doesn't talk much, which is a polar opposite of the narcissistic gimmick he had previously.

EC3 is a great talent for the future, and if WWE intends to push the superstar, this is the time!

#3 Aleister Black

Yet another NXT upstart who made his debut on Monday Night RAW. Black stands out from the crowd of NXT imports with his dark and intriguing gimmick.

Black is a talent who can create magic in the ring, and is one of the deadliest strikers in the business. Black vs Cena would be a dream matchup for the WWE Universe

#2 Samoa Joe

Could we finally get to see Samoa Joe vs John Cena?
Could we finally get to see Samoa Joe vs John Cena?

Fans have been begging for Samoa Joe and John Cena to have a real feud in WWE for a really long time. Seeds were sowed for a potential matchup at WrestleMania 34, but Joe got injured and remained out of action for several months.

Samoa Joe is the best talker in the company today, and no one even comes close. John Cena and Samoa Joe first crossed paths 18 years ago and headed down two drastically different paths.

While Cena became the best in WWE, Joe made a name for himself working for Ring of Honor and TNA. Joe finally arrived WWE in 2015 and has since then been a force to be reckoned with.

Samoa Joe and John Cena deserve a full-fledged feud in WWE, and now is a perfect time!

#1 Drew McIntyre

Who wouldn't love to see Drew take down Cena?
Who wouldn't love to see Drew take down Cena?

Drew McIntyre is everything John Cena was ten years ago. Drew has the looks, the charisma, the wrestling skills, and the promo skills to become the "face" of WWE. The former NXT Champion debuted on the main roster last year and stayed unbeaten for a long time.

Drew injured Cena (in kayfabe) and forced him to miss the Rumble matchup. The story for their feud is already set in stone, and WWE must capitalize on that.

Drew McIntyre is a once-in-a-lifetime superstar. He can fly over the ropes, and he can overpower three-hundred pounders. John Cena putting over Drew McIntyre and helping him become a big deal will be a wonderful sight.

Drew Mcintyre destroyed the legend of Kurt Angle, could John Cena be the next in line for the modern day "legend killer"?
