Mercedes Martinez competed in both Mae Young Classics.

In the 2017 Mae Young Classic, Mercedes Martinez made it all the way to the semifinals. In the first round she defeated Xia Li, in the second round she defeated Princesa Sugehit, in the quarterfinals she defeated Abbey Laith, and in the semifinals she was defeated by Shayna Baszler.

In the 2018 Mae Young Classic, Mercedes Martinez did not make it past the second round. She defeated Ashley Rayne to move on to the second round before she was defeated in the second round by Meiko Satomura. Martinez has competed in NXT in the past. In fact, she was one of the final four women in the battle royal to determine who will fight for the NXT Women's Championship at NXT Takeover: War Games and took Ember Moon to the limit in a matchup.

Because Mercedes Martinez is 37 years old, it might be best for her to go to the main roster where she can face the likes of Becky Lynch, Asuka, Sasha Banks, Charlotte Flair, Bayley, Natalya, and Ember Moon in excellent matches.
