John Cena started dating former WWE Superstar Mickie James in 2007. In 2008, the two superstars had an on-screen romance angle. Their off-screen and on-screen romance ended around the same time.

When Mickie James left WWE in 2010, some rumors suggested her relationship with Cena was the reason behind it. However, the six-time Women's Champion returned to WWE six years later.

Following her return to WWE, James appeared on Lilian Garcia's Making Their Way podcast, where she addressed working around John Cena.

"We're all adults, and you know obviously this business is what it is, and we've all had our share of relationships failed. I think that being adults and being professionals... It's such a tight-knit thing, that's the reason why so many people in the industry fall in love in the first place, because you see each other every day, you hang out with each other, you don't get a chance to... make any type of outside life. We're all grown adults and I would hope that, and I'm pretty sure that it's going to be pretty awesome," James said.

Mickie James spent nearly five more years in WWE before she was released from her contract last April. The 42-year-old is currently married to NWA star Nick Aldis, and she recently joined Impact Wrestling.
