The 2020 Royal Rumble was the first and only time that former WWE Women's Tag Team Champion Shayna Baszler has competed in the popular match. Baszler went into last year's Royal Rumble as one of the favorites to win among fans but ultimately became the runner-up.
Shayna Baszler was the last woman to enter the 2020 Royal Rumble at the envious number 30 spot and was a force to be reckoned with. She quickly eliminated some of WWE's top stars, including former SmackDown Women's Champion Naomi, WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix, Toni Storm, Shotzi Blackheart, and Carmella. She also threw out Zelina Vega, Xia Li, and Tegan Nox.

Fans were surprised at the end of the 2020 women's Royal Rumble when Charlotte Flair managed to avoid elimination and pull former NXT Champion Baszler over the top ropes and onto the floor to win the match. Baszler still got a WrestleMania title shot after she tore through her opponents at Elimination Chamber to win a match against then-RAW Women's Champion Becky Lynch.
