Edge demolished Hardy when the pair faced off at Summerslam 2005.

This may have transpired on WWE TV, but this heinous act was all too real.

When Matt Hardy was out with an injury, his real-life girlfriend Lita would cheat on him with Edge, a long-time friend of the V1 Superstar.

What followed on WWE TV was an intense rivalry that was often-times hard to watch due to the brutality involved. While Edge and Hardy waged a war on each other, Lita received condemnation from the fans for causing such a scenario - either way, it made for some of the best WWE angles of their respective careers.

Facing off at SummerSlam 2005, Edge would brutalize his former friend until the referee stopped the match; Hardy would strike back, winning weeks later inside a Steel Cage.

This all came to a head on the October 3, edition of RAW, when Edge beat Hardy once more in a Loser Leaves Raw match, forcing Matt to move to SmackDown, bringing the grisly events to a close.

Edge was established as a big-time player in WWE by the end, and would carve out a truly unique career for himself after this arc.
