At WrestleMania 25, The Undertaker faced Shawn Michaels in what many deem as the greatest match in WrestleMania history. There were many who wished that this match headlined the show, instead of Triple H vs Randy Orton for the WWE title. This wish turned into reality at next year's WrestleMania, where Shawn Michaels faced The Phenom again, with the former's career on the line.
Edge vs Chris Jericho for the World Title and John Cena vs Batista for the WWE title took a backseat for the legendary duo, who closed out the show, with The Deadman putting down Michaels for good. The final image of the show was HBK standing in the middle of the ring, with 72,000 fans cheering for the fallen legend. This would be Michaels' retirement match, and he announced the same on the RAW after WrestleMania. Michaels did come out of retirement 8 years later, to reunite with Triple H in a winning effort against The Brothers of Destruction.

Given the opportunity to script WWE’s next big storyline, Abhilash would treat fans to the second installment of The Bloodline Civil War. He would book Roman Reigns to re-form The Bloodline with The Usos and Sami Zayn upon his comeback. The angle would see The Tribal Chief-led group go head-to-head with The Rock, Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Jacob Fatu in a blockbuster family feud.
