Roman Reigns has been in the main event of WrestleMania for three years in a row. In all likelihood, he will be there again next year. Over the next five years, however, there are numerous Superstars who could find themselves in the same position Reigns is in now.
WWE is in international expansion mode, and that means showcasing talent from all over the world. In the recent years, WWE has brought in wrestlers with international reputations such as Shinsuke Nakamura and Finn Balor. For WWE to continue to become an international brand, they will have to start presenting such talents more prominently at their biggest show of the year.
With that in mind, let's take a look at five possible WrestleMania main events we could see in the next five years.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
#5 Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns
This is the WrestleMania event we are most likely going to see this year. Expect Brock Lesnar to smash his way through every possible contender on the roster until he meets Roman Reigns at the WrestleMania.
Paul Heyman will probably build the match up as a clashing of the only two Superstars to defeat the Undertaker at WrestleMania. With Brock Lesnar's contract up after WrestleMania this year, look for him to drop the title to Roman Reigns and possibly return to the UFC.
#4 Finn Balor vs. Roman Reigns
Roman Reigns has been involved in the main event of WrestleMania for three consecutive years. If he meets Brock Lesnar at the event this year, it will make it four. I'm predicting he'll make it five in a row by meeting Finn Balor in the main event of WrestleMania 35.
These two have met twice in single's action before. The first time, Finn Balor defeated Reigns cleanly on route to winning the inaugural Universal Championship. That's how highly WWE thinks of Finn. There is a chance WWE could have Finn defeat Reigns here as well, although the opposite result is more likely.
#3 Shinsuke Nakamura vs. AJ Styles
Fans of New Japan Pro Wrestling know that anytime AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura get in the ring together there is a chance magic will occur.
Nakamura and Styles are arguably two of the greatest wrestlers in the world right now, although Kenny Omega fans will take offence to that. Styles and Nakamura going 1-on-1 in the most high-profile match of the year is something pure-wrestling fans would go crazy for.
Considering both wrestlers are popular outside of the United States, this would be a great match to be the main event of the first WrestleMania to be held outside North America.
#2 Braun Strowman vs. Goldberg
Look for WWE to try and make Braun Strowman a more affordable version of Brock Lensar in the next few years. He's bigger and faster than Lesnar so there is no reason they couldn't do it.
If Lesnar isn't around to do the job for Strowman, look for them to turn to Goldberg for another one-off performance like he did last year. Goldberg will be a few years older, of course, but a match like this would be filled with smoke and mirrors anyway, and would probably last for ten minutes at its best.
Strowman, as an unbeatable monster champion, is a likely route for the company to adopt in the next few years.
#1 Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey
The first women's match to main event WrestleMania will be Charlotte Flair taking on Ronda Rousey. That won't be the match we get this year as Rousey is expected to lock horns with Stephanie McMahon.
Rousey's star-power is exactly what WWE's women's divisions need to be put on par with the men's. In her first fight with the UFC, Rousey garnered so much mainstream media attention that women's MMA was immediately on the same level as men's MMA. WWE is hoping she can do the same for their brand of entertainment.
It would be the biggest name in women's wrestling against the biggest name ever in women's mixed martial arts. Needless to say, it would be a heck of a WrestleMania main event!
