This WrestleMania match saw Booker T get his first real shot in the spotlight. The build showcased Booker as an underdog who overcame his past to pave the way to a brighter future.

The only thing standing in Booker's way was the dastardly Triple H. Hunter constantly threw Booker's past in his face. He even infamously stated that "people like" Booker were never meant to be world champions.

From there, the build got a bit problematic. Some saw this as Triple H putting Booker down because of his race. It would've been fine if Booker could overcome the odds and walk out of WrestleMania as the new champion. This did not come to pass, however.

The two put on a great WrestleMania quality match, but backbooking would completely undo this at the end of the bout.

It concluded when Triple H hit the pedigree and, for reasons still unknown, took 30 seconds to pin and beat Booker. It was seen as a burial for Booker, and it took him years to find himself back in the main event picture.
