It would be an understatement to say that Brock Lesnar has been a significant part of SummerSlam ever since his return to WWE in 2012. Even though Lesnar isn't going to be in action this year, he has established his dominance at SummerSlam over the last eight years.
At WrestleMania 34, The Beast Incarnate successfully defended his Universal Championship against Roman Reigns. Lesnar would then retain his title in controversial fashion in a rematch at The Greatest Royal Rumble. After that, he would take time off until the summer.

At SummerSlam 2018, Roman Reigns would once again try his luck against The Beast Incarnate. This time, The Big Dog would defeat Brock Lesnar, thanks to the latter taking his time to dispose of Braun Strowman, who stated earlier that he would be cashing in his Money in the Bank contract right after the match.
