Hangman Page challenged Chris Jericho to become the inaugural AEW World Champion

Hangman Page famously was a participant in the match to crown the inaugural AEW World Champion at All Out in 2019. However, Hangman would be unsuccessful in the match, losing to Le Champion himself, Chris Jericho.

It was speculated during the build to the match at All Out that Hangman Page wasn't ready for such a big spot in the main event match on the biggest show of the AEW's history.

After the loss to Jericho at All Out, Page would flounder on television with feuds against the likes of PAC. However, this would all change at the beginning of 2020.

With Hangman Page disappointed in the direction of his career, he would decide to "distance" himself from The Elite. Instead, Hangman Page would often drink beers and/or whiskey as opposed to being involved in The Elite's activities. Hangman would even receive cups of beer from the fans at ringside and down the alcoholic beverage after every match, to thunderous ovation.

This more relaxed, carefree and alcohol-fuelled version of Hangman Page has turned him into one of the most popular wrestlers in AEW. Often, Page gets one of the loudest responses from the crowd during his entrance and matches on AEW.

Now that Hangman Page is one of the hottest and most popular acts in AEW, many are tipping Hangman to eventually hold the AEW World Championship. With his popularity continuing to increase with and without fans, it would appear to only be a matter of time before Hangman Page becomes AEW World Champion.
