The WWE Universe has witnessed - or will be witnessing - a few weddings among their stars as of late. The current Universal Champion Seth Rollins recently got engaged to Becky Lynch, creating quite a buzz among the WWE family.
Parallel to the aforementioned, Shawn Spears (Tye Dillinger) and Peyton Royce also tied the knot, much to the delight of the fans. And Finn Balor recently got hitched to his girlfriend, Veronica Rodriguez of Fox Sports Mexico. This is not the first time that fellow wrestlers have gotten engaged or married over the past few years.
Although some embrace the publicity around their high-profile association, the others are quite reserved and often sway away from the limelight. While the likes of Miz-Maryse, Triple H-Stephanie McMahon and Johnny Gargano-Candice le Rae have also been involved in storylines, there are a few wrestling couples you would be surprised to know we're engaged or married.
Here are five such WWE superstars who are currently married or engaged to fellow colleagues or wrestlers from another promotion.
#5 Killian Dain and Nikki Cross
Nikki Cross has had a decent 2019, with the former NXT star recently winning the Women's Tag Team Championship with Alexa Bliss. Outside the ring, not many know the fact that she is married to NXT Superstar and former SAnitY stablemate, Killian Dain. The couple dated for a long time before tying the knot at a venue in Scotland earlier in the year.
While Nikki Cross has enjoyed considerable success in the business since getting the call-up to WWE, Killian Dain is slowly finding his feet in the singles division in NXT. Currently feuding with Matt Riddle over the past few weeks, Dain has finally come through on his own and is being pushed as a credible singles competitor in the mold of Braun Strowman and former NXT star, Lars Sullivan.
With WWE's policy of having couples on the same show, one can expect a call up for Killian Dain pretty soon given his undeniable ability in the ring.
#4 Roderick Strong and Marina Shafir
Roderick Strong has been one of the shining lights of NXT. Along with the likes of Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly and Bobby Fish, he has set the ring on fire as part of the Undisputed Era. What many do not know is the fact that he is married to current NXT and former MMA superstar Marina Shafir.
Shafir is well known for her work in MMA with the Moldova born superstar considered to be among 'The MMA Four Horsewomen' along with Ronda Rousey, Shayna Baszler and Jessamyn Duke. She is regularly seen in Shayna Baszler's corner in both promos and bouts as part of a stable with Duke. Amid high expectations, she continues to develop her skills in the ring.
The couple also has a son named Troy, who has been seen a couple of times backstage. They tied the knot last year amidst close friends and family. Strong and Shafir are doing considerably well in stables as of now. It shouldn't be too long before they make the leap to the main roster and showcase their talents to a broader audience.
#3 Montez Ford and Bianca Belair
Another NXT couple that has done well recently is Montez Ford and Bianca Belair. While Belair is regarded as one of the most promising female athletes in the company, Montez Ford has already seen NXT tag team gold along with Angelo Dawkins, as part of the Street Profits.
Ford is frequently seen on Monday Night Raw, hyping up talent and matches, much to the delight of the WWE Universe. In a build-up to their impending call-up to the main roster, the Street Profits are slowly being transitioned with entertaining promos.
On the other hand, Belair has already showcased her freakish strength on multiple occasions in her bid to win the NXT Women's Championship. Earmarked as a future champion, she has a long way to go in order the achieve the aforementioned. Her in-ring ability and her unique character makes her stand-out among her peers.
They married last year after being engaged for more than a year. The special occasion was attended by several NXT and WWE PC superstars in a low-key manner. With both superstars going firm in their bid to make it big in the WWE, success in their professional life is inevitable.
#2 Nick Aldis and Mickie James
Mickie James, who is currently injured, is one of a very few to gain credibility before the Women's Revolution began in the WWE. Known for her sheer athleticism and ability to draw huge numbers, she is bound to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in the future. What many don't know is the fact that she is actually married to NWA star Nick Aldis.
Nick is an established wrestler who currently plies his trade for the National World Alliance. The Englishman has proven himself across the world with stints in TNA, NJPW and Pro Wrestling Noah, increasing his credibility over the years.
They tied the knot in 2015, and the couple also have a boy named Donovan. Both of them are quite active on social media. Much to the delight of their fans, they constantly update their personal lives on social media.
Although Mickie James is on the recovery path right now, big things are expected from Aldis. A possible stint in the WWE is also on the horizon, given the company's policy of hiring the best talent in the world since the reinvention of NXT.
#1 Adam Cole and Britt Baker
Ever since he sprung onto the scene by attacking then NXT Champion Drew McIntyre, Adam Cole has been a highlight of NXT. He has won it all in the development brand, with his NXT Championship win over Johnny Gargano. Off the field too, Adam Cole has settled for nothing but the best in AEW star, Britt Baker.
Britt Baker is one of the more unique characters in the wrestling business. The Pennsylvania native is also a certified dentist. Hence, she is occasionally billed as Dr Britt Baker to correlate with her personal life. Her first appearance in AEW saw her beat Nyla Rose, Kylie Rae and Awesome Kong in an epic fatal four-way match. This win established her as the one to beat in the promotion.
Quite recently, Baker was also spotted in a short clip at NXT:TakeOver as she watched her boyfriend fight it out for the NXT Championship. Similarly, Adam Cole has also been quite vocal of his support towards Baker for her work in the business.
Although AEW is on the rise right now, the Women's Revolution has made WWE the best place to be for a female wrestler. This could attract Britt Baker to reunite with Cole, although it seems a bit far-fetched right now.
