#5 Hope isn’t true: Velveteen Dream’s injury may be legitimate
Velveteen Dream was all set to challenge NXT North American Champion Roderick Strong. However, earlier this week on WWE NXT, we saw Strong destroying Dream backstage in a video package as the rest of the Undisputed Era watched on.
Although this initially looked like it was a part of the storyline to take the feud between Dream and Strong to the next level, it now seems like the reason behind this week’s angle was a legitimate injury suffered by the Velveteen Dream.
William Regal later pulled Dream from his title match against Strong and instead said that the winner of Dominik Dijakovic and Keith Lee’s match would be the next to get a shot at Strong’s NXT North American Championship. That ended up being a DQ, which was caused by Strong, meaning there will now be a Triple Threat match.
Moving back to the Velveteen Dream, The Wrestling Observer reported that he has been dealing with a back injury for a few weeks now. He was initially working through the pain but Dave Meltzer is reporting that the pain became too much for him to bear, leading to him being pulled from the match.
