#2 Jinder Mahal becomes the WWE Champion
A moment in history that will go down as infamy is when Jinder Mahal managed to dethrone Randy Orton for the WWE Championship at 2017 Backlash. The fans never even in their wildest dreams imagined something of this scale to happen. No way they could grasp that Jinder Mahal was officially the 50th recognized WWE Champion and the first of Indian descent.
The reason was quite simply -- WWE wanted to expand in the Indian market, and Mahal was chosen to be the face of the company to represent over a billion people of India. To do this, Mahal had to put in a lot of hard work and was presented as The Modern-day Maharaja.
The management saw him fit to carry the title for a few months as he had gained an intimidating physique to manifest his image as a heel. Pairing The Singh Brothers by Mahal's side, the trio was able to sneak around long enough to keep the Championship around Mahal's waist with his clever antiques. His 170-day reign eventually came to an end at the hands of AJ Styles.
