After eight years away and a successful UFC career, Lesnar lost his first WWE match back.

The return of Brock Lesnar in 2012 was a long-time coming.

The Beast hadn't been seen in WWE for eight years, and the company was a very different place.

John Cena had just won his first title in WWE when Lesnar left in 2004, but when he returned, Cena was the biggest star around.

Meeting at Extreme Rules 2012, many expected the Beast to get a huge win over Cena.

Instead, Cena toppled the reigning Universal Champion, severely harming Lesnar's credibility, as it'd be August by the time he got his first win back.

The worst of this though, is that Cena would later have a storyline saying 2012 was his worst year, meaning that this huge win over the Beast was overlooked by the commentators and the Superstars.
