Possibly one of the most beloved WWE PPVs of all time, The King of the Ring has not featured in WWE since 2015. However, by then it was intermittent and had lost some of the aura that had made it so special in earlier years.

The King of the Ring Tournament being featured on a WWE PPV was something that was intriguing and had a lot riding on it. After all, the winner would then go on to get a Title Opportunity. It was almost like a Royal Rumble Match.

However, over the years WWE did not attach the same significance to it, and the last winner, Bad News Barrett, did not even get a title shot.

With winners like Sheamus, Bret Hart, Owen Hart, Brock Lesnar, Edge, Booker T, William Regal, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and Triple H, the prestige of the tournament is beyond question. Perhaps it is time for WWE to bring the event back.
