Back in 2018, Drew McIntyre allied with King Corbin and Bobby Lashley. The trio put down The Monster Among Men, Braun Strowman on various occasions. Soon after, they set their sights on the reunited Shield, as WrestleMania 35 drew closer. At Fastlane 2019, The Shield took on McIntyre, Corbin, and Lashley in a 6-man tag-team match, with The Hounds of Justice coming out victorious in the end. A short while later, the villainous trio met The Shield again at the WWE Network special, "The Shield's Final Chapter", and suffered another loss. This was the final WWE outing of Dean Ambrose, who later debuted in AEW.
Tonight in the Rumble, Corbin, and McIntyre crossed paths again after a long time, after Corbin came in at #22. After a strong showing, which included eliminating Matt Riddle, Corbin was thrown over the top rope by his former teammate McIntyre. The King couldn't believe his eyes as soon as he landed on the floor. McIntyre, on the other hand, wasn't letting anything come in his way to realizing his lifelong dream, as he eliminated Superstars one after the other and came out the victor in the end.

Given the opportunity to script WWE’s next big storyline, Abhilash would treat fans to the second installment of The Bloodline Civil War. He would book Roman Reigns to re-form The Bloodline with The Usos and Sami Zayn upon his comeback. The angle would see The Tribal Chief-led group go head-to-head with The Rock, Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Jacob Fatu in a blockbuster family feud.
