By the early 1990s, Randy Savage had become a top star in WWE, having headlined two straight WrestleMania events with Ted Dibiase and Hulk Hogan. At WrestleMania 7, Savage lost a retirement match to The Ultimate Warrior, soon after which Jake Roberts began belittling The Macho Man. On the October 21, 1991 taping of WWF Superstars of Wrestling, Roberts attacked Savage and tied him up on the ropes. He proceeded to get his cobra to bite Savage's arm.
The snake was devenomized, but Roberts was struggling to separate the cobra who was biting Savage too hard. The disturbing segment went way longer than originally planned, and Savage was gushing a lot of blood in what was a gruesome sight. Roberts has opened up on the segment several times in the past. He stated that Savage asked him to get bit by the cobra himself so that he would be convinced that the snake was actually devenomized. Savage also used to check on Roberts multiple times to see whether the bite left him with any side effects.

Given the opportunity to script WWE’s next big storyline, Abhilash would treat fans to the second installment of The Bloodline Civil War. He would book Roman Reigns to re-form The Bloodline with The Usos and Sami Zayn upon his comeback. The angle would see The Tribal Chief-led group go head-to-head with The Rock, Solo Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Jacob Fatu in a blockbuster family feud.
