After Kofi Kingston's heroic performance in a Gauntlet match on an episode of SmackDown Live, KofiMania was born, which ultimately led to Kingston getting a shot at the WWE title on The Grandest Stage Of Them All, WrestleMania 35. At the event, Kingston defeated Daniel Bryan to win the WWE title for the first time in his decade-long WWE career.

Months later, The New Day defeated Bryan & Rowan, and Heavy Machinery in a Triple Threat Match to win the SmackDown Live Tag Team titles, thus resulting in all three members of The New Day holding title belts at the same time.
In December 2002, Paul Heyman introduced Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin as a 'gift' to Kurt Angle, leading to the formation of Team Angle. Angle had recently won the WWE title by defeating The Big Show at Armageddon 2002. On an episode of SmackDown in February, Haas and Benjamin defeated Los Guerreros to win the WWE Tag Team titles. This led to all the three members of Team Angle holding championship gold at the same time. It seemed that this reign would continue after WrestleMania 19, where Team Angle won a Triple Threat Match to retain their belts, but Angle lost the WWE title to Brock Lesnar in the main event, ending the trio's reign with championship gold.

He would book Roman Reigns to re-form The Bloodline with The Usos and Sami Zayn upon his comeback.
