In 2004 JBL defeated Eddie Guerrero to become the WWE Champion. Much like Jinder Mahal's recent championship win, this was a major shock to the fans.

JBL had been a mid-card talent for years and had achieved success in the tag team division as one half of the A.P.A. Suddenly, JBL was pushed as the top heel on Smackdown and given a faction to back him up.
This faction was named the Cabinet and consisted of JBL and three young stars, Orlando Jordan, and The Basham Brothers. Jordan and the Bashams also received pushes.
Jordan won the United States Championship from John Cena and The Bashams captured tag team gold. Despite the huge push, the faction was a massive disappointment and disbanded shortly after JBL lost the title. They left little to no impact on the fans.
