Randy Orton famously complained about Kofi Kingston following a Triple Threat match (also involving John Cena) on WWE RAW in January 2010.

The Viper was supposed to hit Kingston with a Punt Kick during the match, but his opponent kept getting back to his feet. This led Orton to repeatedly yell “Stupid! Stupid!” at Kingston in the middle of the ring.

Speaking to FOX News in 2019, Kingston confirmed rumors that Orton's backstage politics played a part in his WWE push ending almost a decade earlier.

“It was a very real thing, not a storyline thing, when Randy Orton didn't want me to get to a certain point in WWE. As you saw 10 years ago, I was kind of on the rise and logic would suggest that I would have become Champion based on the run I was having at the time and Randy Orton put a stop to all of that,” Kingston said.

Orton pinned Kingston after hitting an RKO instead of a Punt Kick. He then went on to feud with Sheamus for the WWE Championship, while Kingston disappeared from World Championship storylines for the next nine years.

A year before the incident with Kingston, Orton also complained about Mr. Kennedy's safety in the ring after a botched suplex spot on RAW. Orton "blew up in front of all the talent," according to Mr. Kennedy, and the former United States Champion received his release four days later.
