Perhaps the best and most thrilling example of a WWE Superstar, or should I say WWE Superstars, wrestling on behalf of someone else was when The New Day offered to run a tag-team gauntlet to earn Kofi Kingston a last-gasp world title match at WrestleMania.
Kingston had run the gauntlet the previous week, but was defeated by Daniel Bryan who was added in at the last minute by Vince McMahon. This led to Xavier Woods and Big E begging to run a gauntlet themselves, and if they won, Kingston would get his match.
Woods and Big E had to face and defeat Gallows and Anderson, Shinsuke Nakamura and Rusev, The Usos, The Bar and the team of Daniel Bryan and Rowan in order to earn Kingston his moment and they did it!
Kingston would go on to wrestle against Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania, where he would win a world championship for the first time in his lengthy WWE career, culminating in one of the best moments in 'Mania's History.
