After winning the Money in the Bank briefcase, Ziggler successfully defended his Money in the Bank contract on two separate occasions. One during the August 20, 2012 edition of Monday Night RAW when he defeated Chris Jericho in a career vs. contract match.

The other came at the Tables, Ladders, and Chairs pay-per-view when he defeated John Cena in a Ladder match to successfully retain his Money in the Bank contract.

After holding the briefcase for 267 days, Dolph Ziggler finally cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on the post-WrestleMania 29 edition of Monday Night RAW in 2013.

After World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio defeated Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter in a 2-on-1 handicap match, Dolph Ziggler emerged to a thunderous ovation and cashed in on his WWE World Title opportunity. Ziggler hit Del Rio with a Zig Zag to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
