#1. Shinsuke Nakamura upsets John Cena - SmackDown Live August 1st 2017

Way back in 2017, Shinsuke Nakamura did the unthinkable. He defeated John Cena.
Looking back at SmackDown in 2017 you'd never believe what was happening. Jinder Mahal was the World Champion on the blue brand and Shinsuke Nakamura was beating John Cena clean in the middle of the ring on a television episode of SmackDown to become the number one contender.

The win over John Cena was supposed to elevate Nakamura to bigger heights as beating Cena had done for other Superstars, but it seems that an accident in the ring during the match soured Nakamura's chances.
Nakamura hit Cena with an Exploder Suplex, but instead of landing on his stomach, Cena landed on the back of his head, thankfully avoiding major injury. Unfortunately for Nakamura, he received some heat backstage for the move, even with Cena's own insistence that it wasn't his fault.
Whilst Nakamura hasn't won a world title during his time on the main roster, getting to face John Cena in singles action and beating him is quite the accolade on its own.
