As the year winds down, WWE fans look ahead to 2025, which will bring in a new era, thanks to the partnership with Netflix. The debut episode of RAW will take place on January 6 on the global streaming platform, and the show looks to be historic with several huge matches already scheduled.
WWE's partnership with Netflix will bring about a new era, which is always exciting for wrestling fans. As of now, there have been plenty of rumors regarding who may or may not show up in Inglewood. With that said, this would also be a great opportunity to see some of the inactive superstars return to action.
This is our list of five WWE Superstars who could make unexpected returns at RAW's Netflix debut:
Former WWE writer buries Judgment Day HERE
#5. Former SmackDown Women's Champion Carmella
Bayley recently went live on Instagram for a virtual toy drive. During her broadcast, several fellow stars were on her panel, including The Undertaker, Rey Mysterio, and Carmella. The former SmackDown Women's Champion spoke about her hiatus, addressing her nerve damage, which she suffered while giving birth to her son last November.
"I love being a mom...That being said, of course, I miss WWE, I miss everyone. I miss being Carmella. I miss it so much. I wish I had an update for you guys. For those of you who don't know, I have some nerve damage in my foot from delivering Dimitri," she said.
Carmella's last appearance was during an episode of RAW in March 2023. Since then, she has been on maternity leave. She is married to SmackDown commentator Corey Graves. The couple welcomed their son on November 8, 2023.
#4. WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin
After making a name for himself with WCW and ECW, Steve Austin started his WWE journey in the mid-1990s. Shortly after signing with the company, the "Austin 3:16" era began.
Throughout the Attitude Era and beyond, Stone Cold Steve Austin became one of the all-time greats en route to becoming a six-time WWE Champion.
With RAW's premiere on Netflix quickly approaching, the rumors have been swirling regarding the possibility of Stone Cold Steve Austin making an appearance. While there has been no official announcement from the company about Austin, it would be a great way to electrify the fans.
#3. 5-time WWE Women's Champion Alexa Bliss
Alexa Bliss started her WWE journey with NXT in 2013, at the time when the company was rebranding its developmental roster from FCW to NXT. In 2016, Alexa broke into the main roster, becoming one of the top stars in the company. In 2020, Bliss aligned with Bray Wyatt for what was arguably the best run of her career.
Alexa is married to music star Ryan Cabrera, and the couple gave birth to their daughter in November 2023. Her last appearance was at last year's Royal Rumble, where she lost to Bianca Belair. While there have been rumors of Bliss returning soon, there hasn't been an official word on the timeline.
The Wyatt Sicks could definitely use Alexa to help ignite more interest in the storyline.
#2. "The Final Boss": The Rock
The Bloodline saga is one of the primary reasons for WWE's massive success over the past few years. Roman Reigns led the group to one of the most impressive levels in wrestling history. However, The Rock eventually came into the picture and elevated the storyline even more, culminating with a huge payoff at WrestleMania 40.
Following a huge Night Two of WrestleMania, The Rock came out on RAW the next night to confront Cody Rhodes. He made it clear that he would be back one day, and that "their story had just begun." He has since appeared at Bad Blood for a brief moment.
A new year and a new relationship with Netflix could be the perfect launching spot for The Rock's return.
#1. 14-time WWE Women's Champion Charlotte Flair
Imagine being the child of a pro wrestling legend like Ric Flair. As a second-generation superstar, following in the footsteps of an icon like The Nature Boy is hard to follow. However, Charlotte Flair has not only lived up to those near-impossible standards but has also created her own legacy as one of the top female wrestlers in the world.
It's been over a year now since Charlotte Flair has competed. Her last bout was against Asuka on a December 2023 episode of SmackDown. During that match, Charlotte suffered a severe injury, tearing her MCL, ACL, and meniscus. There hasn't been much information regarding her return, but Charlotte has hinted that she'll be back soon.
A fresh start on Netflix would be ideal to kick off her comeback.
