Before forming The New Day, Kofi Kingston also teamed with WWE Superstars including CM Punk, Evan Bourne, and R-Truth.

In April 2012, Kingston and Truth defeated Primo and Epico to win the WWE tag team titles. They went on to hold the titles for 139 days before losing against Team Hell No at WWE Night of Champions.

Four days before that pay-per-view, Superstars were asked in a WWE Inbox video if they have ever been mistaken for another roster member.

Kingston revealed that people regularly thought he was Truth around that time.

“I’ll hear somebody say, ‘What’s up? What’s up?’ It hits me like five minutes later that they actually thought that I was R-Truth. I get that all the time. He gets it too, you know. ‘Boom, boom, boom, man!’ You know, what can you say?”

The video also showed one of WWE’s own interviewers mistaking Truth for Kingston (01:19 in the video above). Before asking Truth a question, she said, “So, Kofi… [Truth corrects her]… Oh, I’m so sorry.”

Truth and Kingston both saw the funny side and laughed it off.
