Bobby Lashley has been protected on WWE TV over the past few weeks. He was able to drop his United States Championship to Riddle without being pinned and this past week on RAW he pinned Braun Strowman clean.
It's clear that the company has some huge plans for Lashley moving forward and if he becomes WWE Champion next week on RAW then Drew McIntyre could step back into the title picture to challenge him.
McIntyre has reigned his division over the past year and is now a two-time Champion. However, it's unclear whether or not WWE wants McIntyre to reclaim the title or if Lashley will be heading into SummerSlam as champion with, say, Brock Lesnar as his challenger.
What is clear is that Lashley is being pushed to the moon on WWE TV at present so the company must have some plans in place for the former MMA star. There have been rumors that a match between Lashley and Lesnar could be planned in the future but there has been no clarification of this as of yet.
What is known is that Drew McIntyre is expected to be on the WrestleMania card and Bobby Lashley is expected to be the WWE Champion. And with Lashley assisting The Miz to cost McIntyre his title at Elimination Chamber, Lashley and McIntyre do have unfinished business.
