5 WWE Superstars that should join AEW

Which WWE superstars would you like to see in AEW?
Which WWE superstars would you like to see in AEW?

Recently, Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) announced the formation of new wrestling promotion AEW or All Elite Wrestling. The announcement ended months of speculation as to where the wrestlers would next be performing following the expiry of their deals with Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling.

AEW has immense potential given the popularity of its leaders alone and while the promotion's formation has only just been announced itself, speculation as to who might be appearing on AEW shows is already running rampant. It isn't yet clear whether Elite member Kenny Omega will be joining his stablemates in the new promotion nor is it clear what top independent stars will be joining AEW outside of "Hangman" Adam Page and Brandi Rhodes who seem to have already signed their respective contracts.

If, and it's a big if, AEW does go on to become a successful promotion it doesn't seem unthinkable that WWE stars, potentially those not entirely happy with their position in the company, might begin to jump ship to this new promotion. There are certainly a number of WWE superstars who seem like they'd be a much better fit in the wonderful world of Being The Elite that All Elite Wrestling promises to embody.

Here are just some of the names that could be a much better fit in AEW than in WWE:

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

#5 Sami Zayn

Is Sami Zayn a better fit in AEW than WWE?
Is Sami Zayn a better fit in AEW than WWE?

Sami Zayn has briefly featured in Being The Elite and clearly has a relationship with The Young Bucks and co. Zayn is an incredibly talented performer who has had mixed success in his time in WWE.

Zayn's comedic skills and smaller size aren't what we'd expect to see from a typical top WWE star and you'd be forgiven for beginning to wonder if Zayn will ever reach those heights in WWE.

One cannot help but Zayn would thrive in an AEW environment that promises to showcase the best of pro-wrestling and one would expect his real-life relationships with its stars would translate into some great television.

#4 Adam Cole

Will the SuperKliq ever reunite?
Will the SuperKliq ever reunite?

Adam Cole used to be a regular on Being The Elite and his on-screen murder and real-life NXT signing were one of the biggest moments in the early days of the show. Cole seemed incredibly close with each of the AEW signees during these times and has worked a great number of matches with The Young Bucks in particular in the group known as the Superkliq.

While Cole has been excellent in NXT to this point and seems poised for a run at the main roster very soon, there can be very little doubt that he would excel in AEW due to his enormous talent and the ease with which he could slot into storylines given his prior involvement in BTE. As good as Adam Cole is, he seems to be a great fit in both companies, whereas the remaining names seem like they would be a better fit for AEW specifically.

#3 Matt Hardy

Would you want to see in Broken Matt Hardy in AEW?
Would you want to see in Broken Matt Hardy in AEW?

Matt Hardy is one of best-known longest-running superstars still active on the WWE roster and has breathed new life into his career with his Broken/Woken Matt Hardy gimmick in recent years. Broken Matt Hardy was a roaring success in Impact Wrestling, breathed new life into that company and it ultimately propelled him back to the WWE for another run.

Following a nostalgic run as the Hardy Boyz of old, Matt Hardy once again revived his recent gimmick, this time as Woken Matt Hardy. While this move was not without success, the Ultimate Deletion being a particularly strong highlight, the character didn't seem to fit in with the rest of WWE programming.

The gimmick has a real indy feel to it and seems far more likely to succeed and relive its former glory in AEW than it ever would in WWE. Hardy has worked with The Young Bucks before but could it happen again?

#2 Goldust

Will we ever get a proper Dustin versus Cody Rhodes feud?
Will we ever get a proper Dustin versus Cody Rhodes feud?

This one needs very little explanation. Goldust, or Dustin Rhodes, is the real-life brother of Cody Rhodes and the two did have some strong performances on WWE programming when they were both signed there. However, this relationship never felt properly explored or even acknowledged in WWE despite anticipation of a brother versus brother feud among other suggestions.

If Goldust were to join his brother's company, the storylines write themselves as we can see him appear either alongside or in opposition of his brother Cody. Additionally, this proposed move might indeed be an appealing one for an ageing Goldust who is essentially a non-factor in the WWE at the moment and hasn't been treated seriously as a performer in the company for quite some time now.

A move to AEW could rejuvenate Goldust's career, set up a number of matches fans would be keen to see and help propel the fledgeling promotion as it attempts to make a name for itself.

#1 The Revival

Will we ever see The Young Bucks versus The Revival?
Will we ever see The Young Bucks versus The Revival?

#FTR or "F*** The Revival" as Cody Rhodes would often exclaim on episodes of Being The Elite feels as though it is the biggest storyline The Revival has been involved in to date. The segment came off the back of commonly-held debate between fans as to who the best tag team was at the time, either The Young Bucks or The Revival.

The Revival, who despite being exceptional during their stint in NXT, has been pretty forgettable since joining the main roster, through no fault of their own. A switch to AEW would set up what is arguably one of the most anticipated tag team matchups of all time in The Young Bucks versus The Revival and one can have little doubt that the duo would be handled better in AEW than they have been during their WWE run.
