The Scottish Warrior squared off against long-time rival Randy Orton in the show's main event, putting his WWE Championship on the line. McIntyre already owned two previous victories over The Viper at SummerSlam and Clash of Champions respectively.
However, in this match, Randy Orton got the jump on his opponent before the opening bell could even be rung. The Apex Predator disguised himself as a cameraman and attacked Drew McIntyre during his entrance.
During the latter stages of the match, Orton utilized bolt cutters to cut the chain off the cell door, allowing him to escape. This led to both competitors brawling inside the WWE ThunderDome, eventually scaling the Hell in a Cell structure onto the roof.
After Randy Orton attacked Drew McIntyre with a lead pipe, both competitors attempted to climb down the Cell structure. Instead, The Viper sent Drew McIntrye flying off the Cell and crashing through the announce table below.
