#2 Tyler Reks was told to change his WWE finisher
In 2011, former WWE Superstar Tyler Reks was called out backstage by John Cena after using a move that looked similar to the Attitude Adjustment.
A top AEW star just called one of his colleagues 'spoiled' and 'narcissistic' HERE.
Reks actually debuted the move – the Burning Hammer, an inverted Attitude Adjustment – eight months earlier and he had the approval to use it from WWE Chairman Vince McMahon and WWE producer Arn Anderson.
During a live event match against Primo Colon, Reks accidentally botched the move and it ended up looking similar to Cena’s finisher.
When Reks returned backstage, Cena smirked and told him that he might have to find a new finisher. At the time, the six-foot-five Superstar thought his WWE colleague was joking around and playfully suggesting that they do not botch the move again.
However, after executing the move on Primo at another WWE live event, Reks was greeted by a furious Cena after the match.
“I come backstage happy after a good match with Eddie [Primo] all excited and John grabs me in front of everyone and says, ‘What do you think you're doing? I thought I told you to get a new finisher.’” [H/T Wrestling Inc.]
Reks explained the situation and said there had been a misunderstanding over the botched move from the previous event, but Cena did not accept his apology.
“He started yelling at me asking who gave me permission to use that. He belittled me, called me an idiot, and asked me if I enjoyed working here. I told him of course I do. He told me, ‘Find another finisher or you're fired.’”
After taking some time to cool down, Reks said he tried to apologize to Cena again but the 16-time WWE World Champion asked him if he was stupid and did not want to continue the conversation.
The two men hardly ever spoke after that incident, according to Reks.
