Mick Foley was the absolute acid test for any young wrestler looking to establish credibility during the Ruthless Aggression Era and even the Attitude Era prior to that. Both Randy Orton and Edge went through gruesome Hardcore matches against Mrs Foley’s Baby Boy to add a level of toughness and violence to their characters that no one else could provide.

Even Triple H and The Rock have benefited from Foley’s gift. The former had a crazy hardcore match of his own whereas Rocky drew an incredible amount of heat for those 11 unprotected chair shots to the head and then drew a lot of pops through The Rock N Sock Connection.
