The former NXT Women and Divas Champion will return to SmackDown

Former SmackDown General Manager, Paige, will return to WWE this Friday as she has been announced to confront the SmackDown Women’s Champion, Bayley. Since Paige is not medically cleared to make a return to the ring, the chances that she challenges Bayley to a match at WrestleMania 36 are very low.

Therefore, it could be possible that she is coming back just to announce a match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. The rumor mill hinted that WWE has nixed the plans for a match between Bayley and Sasha Banks as the company is now planning a multi-woman match for the event.

Since Paige is no longer an authority figure on the Blue brand, WWE may reveal her as the host of WrestleMania 36, and then the former Divas Champion could declare the aforementioned bout. She can easily say that SmackDown has always been ‘The Land of Opportunity’ so Bayley will have to put her title on the line against all the talented women of SmackDown.

This seems to be the best option in WWE’s hands because the women are unlikely to main event WrestleMania this year. The best they can do is have a female Superstar host the event and announce a marquee women’s match for the pay-per-view. The audience loves Paige, so expect this announcement to receive a massive pop.
