It's pretty much official now! Dean Ambrose is on his way out of the company and will be gone after WrestleMania 35 has concluded. What this essentially means is that there's a spot that needs to be filled up. Who will step up to take the Dean Ambrose spot?
In this article, I shall name 5 gentlemen from WWE with a special mention. Each of these individuals is highly talented and could certainly do justice to the spot if it were offered to them. Some of them may even end up doing a better job than Ambrose.
I will name them in the following article. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
Who, in your opinion, could be the next Dean Ambrose?
Special Mention: Kenny Omega
'The Cleaner' is officially a free agent and this makes him a huge get for whichever promotion eventually manages to bag him. Kenny Omega is a former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion and has been responsible for making NJPW into a household name. Why he's not in this list is because, in all probability, Kenny Omega will head to AEW, not WWE.
Omega is a fantastic worker and can actually even work circles around Dean Ambrose in the ring. While not everyone may be a fan of his exaggerated expressions at times, Ambrose has superstar written all over him. He would be the ideal candidate for the Dean Ambrose spot.
We've all seen how good he was as a heel when he was a part of the Bullet Club and later how great he was as a babyface too, when he became aligned with Kota Ibushi in the tag team- The Golden Lovers. If Omega ever decides to come to WWE, he'd be a huge signing.
#5 Adam Cole
Much like The Shield ruled the roost on the main roster, The Undisputed ERA calls the shots in NXT right now. One of the members of The Undisputed ERA who can certainly break out and become a huge singles performer is Adam Cole Bay Bay! The man has all the tools to become a top star in WWE very soon.
We've only seen him work as a heel in NXT but he has excelled at every given opportunity. While his size may prove to be a detriment to an extent, WWE is no longer the land of the giants. Adam Cole could certainly, upon his call-up, take up the Dean Ambrose spot in the current roster.
Just like Dean Ambrose, Cole too has come from the independents and excelled and thrived while in NXT. If he gets called up after WrestleMania, he could be a worthy replacement for Ambrose.
#4 Luke Harper
So Rowan has branched off on his own and become Daniel Bryan's sidekick. This means that the Bludgeon Brothers are no more. And this means that Luke Harper could be repackaged and thrust into a new role on RAW.
Anyone who's seen Luke Harper perform knows that he is incredible for a big man in the ring, and should have become a breakout star a very long time ago. Somehow his single runs have never panned out because of the crowded top tier in the roster. Well, now a spot has opened up and if Harper makes a return, he could potentially become the next Dean Ambrose.
He will not have to try too hard to make us believe that he is indeed, a lunatic because of the way he wrestles and also, because of his unique look. Maybe he could be in line for a push, in the coming days.
#3 Bobby Roode
If you only watch RAW and SmackDown Live, you are probably not aware of how good a heel Bobby Roode can be, when he's allowed to be himself. Roode had quite the heel run while in TNA and also in NXT.
He's one of those performers who feels like he's been leashed ever since he's made his way to WWE, never quite managing to showcase his potential. I strongly feel that if he were removed from the Tag Team division, he could potentially be the next Dean Ambrose.
He could become the heel that WWE never allowed Dean Ambrose to be because when he taps into his dark side, Bobby Roode becomes a completely different individual. Just check out his feud against Roderick Strong from NXT if you don't believe me.
And if he were to turn babyface after his heel turn, he has the potential to be the next Dean Ambrose.
#2 Aleister Black
One thing that few can deny is that Dean Ambrose has a certain mystique and charisma about him. There is perhaps nobody in the roster that can match it except for Aleister Black. I daresay that when he comes into the main roster, he could be an even bigger star than Dean Ambrose.
There is no way that Aleister Black will be a lower card performer because he already has a very 'over' gimmick while in NXT. From the moment that he is called up, he will be thrust right into the spotlight. Dean Ambrose's spot is up for grabs and Aleister Black may just be the WWE Superstar who reaches out and runs with the ball.
So you take The Dutch Destroyer and put him on RAW, and he could even potentially be a third member of the Shield when Roman Reigns returns. He could most certainly be the next Dean Ambrose!
#1 Nikki Cross
I've said this several times in my NXT reviews. Nikki Cross is a WWE Superstar who makes Dean Ambrose seem sane. She is deranged, she is over the top, she has a wild look in her eyes and she has a ferocity that Dean Ambrose did not have. Why should his replacement be from the men's division?
Nikki Cross apparently impressed a lot of officials when she made her Royal Rumble appearance last weekend, to a thunderous ovation. This makes me believe that the ceiling may be extremely high for her and she could take on the role of the 'lunatic'. Some may argue that she makes an even better lunatic than Dean Ambrose.
Of course, I would like to hear your thoughts too. Do you think that Ambrose is replaceable and if so, who would you say could potentially be his successor in WWE?
Let's hope someone steps up to the plate and takes up his spot with gusto!
